Procedural Safeguards

Vision Statement: Every student, including those with disabilities, is held to high expectations and has equitable access to educational opportunities that enrich lives and prepare students for future success.

Parental rightsOne of the core beliefs of the EVSC Office of Special Education is that parent and guardian input is essential in developing an IEP.

Parents and guardians of a child who has or may have a disability are afforded certain rights through federal and state laws called procedural safeguards. Procedural safeguards are sometimes also referred to as parent rights or a parent rights booklet.
